This Silene group contains separate species in Caryophyllaceae. Silene dioica, red campion, and S. vulgaris, bladder campion, differ in both floral appearance and calyx form.
Botanical characteristics
In S. vulgaris, the inflated calyx surrounds the base of the white-petalled flower; it is not itself a swollen petal.
Red campion and bladder campion
Dioica (Melandrium rubrum) and Vulgaris (inflata) identify the two species references, not a mixed seed article.
