Silene pendula is an annual with branching, spreading to ascending stems and opposite leaves.

Botanical characteristics

Its pink flowers have divided petal tips and a conspicuously veined calyx. The flower stalk bends down as the fruit develops, connecting the drooping name to a change during fruiting rather than to the whole plant’s habit.

Named compact references

Celina, Snowdrop and Single Flowered Mixed retain separate selection labels.

The Snowdrop selection is offered with double flowers.
