Cyperus alternifolius is a perennial sedge with leaf-like bracts radiating from the stem tips.
Botanical characteristics
These bracts create the umbrella outline; the true leaves are much less conspicuous. Rhizomes support its spreading wetland habit. Consistently moist roots distinguish its requirements from those of dry-soil ornamental grasses.
Umbrella bracts and seed references
Cyperus alternifolius and Nanus are the separately named references in the bulk seed list.
