Cyperus alternifolius – Cyperus alternifolius

Cyperus alternifolius is a perennial sedge with leaf-like bracts radiating from the stem tips. These bracts create the umbrella outline; the true leaves are much less conspicuous. Rhizomes support its spreading wetland habit. Consistently moist roots distinguish its requirements from those of dry-soil ornamental grasses.
