Ageratum mexicanum is a historical name associated with Ageratum houstonianum, a frost-tender annual.

Botanical characteristics

Its fluffy flower heads consist of many small tubular florets rather than the broad outer rays of a typical daisy. Garden selections vary in height and flower colour, with compact forms familiar in edging assortments.

Fluffy flower heads and habit groups

The wholesale list includes Blue Mink, Blue Ball and Dondo blue. These actual references let seed retailers compare dwarf, Ball and tall-labelled entries without applying one plant height to the entire species.
