Physostegia virginiana is a rhizomatous perennial in the mint family, with toothed leaves and upright spikes of tubular flowers.

Botanical characteristics

Blooms open progressively from the lower part of the spike upwards. Its roots can spread strongly in rich, moist soil, so a perennial clump may occupy more space over time.

Pink and white seed references

Rose Queen, White Queen and Pink offer named and colour-labelled references for perennial seed assortments.
