Gerbera jamesonii is a perennial whose flowers rise above a basal rosette. It contributed to many garden gerbera hybrids, so a hybrid mixture is not automatically a pure species reference.

Flowers and foliage

The contrast between the leaf rosette and elevated flower heads gives the group its characteristic form. Moisture with drainage is preferable to a waterlogged crown.
