Delphinium grandiflorum is a short-lived perennial often treated as an annual or biennial.

Botanical characteristics

Its spurred flowers give the plant its larkspur name. Blue Butterfly has a compact, branching habit and loose clusters of deep blue flowers, rather than the tall, dense spikes associated with many garden delphinium hybrids.

Butterfly colour references

For seed retailers, blue anchors the Butterfly selection; white and mixed are separate catalogue options.
