Foeniculum vulgare

Fennel is an upright, branching perennial with finely divided, aromatic leaves. Small yellow flowers form broad, flattened umbels. The foliage has an anise-like flavour. It prefers sun and moist, fertile, well-drained soil. Plants can self-seed freely if flower heads are left to mature.
