Seed variety
Foliosum (Strawberry spinach) – Chenopodium
The Foliosum entry belongs to the strawberry-spinach context of Blitum virgatum, formerly Chenopodium foliosum. Leaf-like bracts remain throughout the inflorescence, with rounded flower clusters in their axils. As the fruits develop, the surrounding perianth becomes red and fleshy. This differs from Blitum capitatum, whose leafy bracts are concentrated at the inflorescence base.
