Seed variety
Strawberry spinach – Chenopodium capitatum
Chenopodium capitatum is now placed in Blitum as Blitum capitatum. It is an annual whose small flowers form rounded clusters on terminal axes. Leaf-like bracts occur mainly at the inflorescence base, unlike the leafy inflorescences of B. virgatum. The perianth can become fleshy and red around the fruits, producing the strawberry-like appearance without belonging to the strawberry genus Fragaria. The catalogue average is 4900 seeds per gram, a useful reference when comparing bulk quantities.
