Buckwheat – Fagopyrum esculentum

Fagopyrum esculentum is a fast-growing annual in the Polygonaceae, despite not being a true cereal grass. It has triangular to heart-shaped leaves, hollow stems and clusters of small white or pink flowers. The dry triangular achenes are processed as buckwheat grain. Buckwheat is the species common name.
