Seed variety
New Zealand spinach – Tetragonia tetragonoides
Tetragonia tetragonoides has slightly fleshy leaves and belongs to Aizoaceae. It is distinct from common spinach, Spinacia oleracea, in Amaranthaceae. It is a perennial often used as a seasonal leafy plant. A sunny position, moist but drained soil and protection from frost suit it better than treating the common name as proof of spinach-like cold tolerance.
