Harlequin – Zea mays

Zea mays includes sweetcorn, popping types and ornamental selections within one annual grass species. It is wind-pollinated, and pollen from other varieties can affect some sweetcorn characteristics. Kernel type and intended use therefore matter when distinguishing catalogue entries; coloured maize should not automatically be described as sweetcorn.
