Peppermint – Mentha piperita

Peppermint, Mentha × piperita, is the perennial hybrid of watermint and spearmint, M. aquatica and M. spicata. It spreads by rhizomes and rarely sets seed. Named peppermint stocks are commonly maintained by cuttings or division, so seed-raised material should not be equated with a vegetatively maintained clone. Peppermint is the catalogue designation for this seed entry.
