Maiden pink – Dianthus deltoides

Dianthus deltoides is a low herbaceous perennial with narrow leaves and small flowers, often marked by a darker ring near the centre. Its spreading foliage gives it a ground-covering habit distinct from tall carnations. Good drainage is essential: wet soil can lead to crown rot and loss of the centre of a clump.
