Monarda citriodora is an annual or biennial in Lamiaceae with lemon-scented foliage and flowers.
Botanical characteristics
Interrupted, whorl-like flower clusters rise along square stems, giving the plant a tiered outline. It is a Monarda rather than a Mentha despite the Lemon Mint trade name. Seed can also maintain its presence through self-sowing.
Tiered flowers and lemon scent
Lemon Bee Balm and Lemon Mint retain separate common-name seed references.
