Green purslane – Portulaca oleracea

Portulaca oleracea is an annual succulent with smooth stems, fleshy oval leaves and small yellow flowers. Its low, often spreading habit distinguishes it from many upright salad herbs. The flowers open briefly and are followed by capsules that release small dark seeds, allowing ready self-seeding in suitable conditions.
