Kaori – Perilla frutescens

Perilla frutescens is an aromatic annual in Lamiaceae, with square stems and opposite, toothed leaves. Foliage colour and degree of leaf crinkling are important distinctions among shiso selections. Small flowers appear later in the season, and abundant self-seeding can allow plants to spread. Kaori is the catalogue designation for this seed entry.
