Mentha spicata – Nan

The following description concerns Mentha spicata generally. Mentha spicata is a perennial in Lamiaceae with square stems and flower spikes. Rhizomes and stems rooting at nodes explain its spreading habit, rather than a permanently compact clump. It favours moist conditions. The species name distinguishes spearmint from other mints in a herb-seed assortment, where common names can overlap.
