double flowered mixed – Dianthus chinensis

Dianthus chinensis bears flat flowers with fringed petal margins above narrow foliage. Although biennial or short-lived perennial, it is commonly treated as an annual. Well-drained soil limits crown-rot risk; hot, humid summers can reduce persistence. Garden selections differ in flower form and habit, rather than representing separate botanical species.
