Violet – Cobaea scandens

Cobaea scandens is a tender perennial climber commonly treated as an annual in cooler climates. A broad bell-shaped corolla sits above a conspicuous calyx, explaining the cup-and-saucer name. Tendrils attach the stems to supports. Excessively rich feeding can favour foliage over flowers, so vigorous growth does not necessarily mean more bloom.
