Perfecta – Amaranthus tricolor

Amaranthus tricolor is an annual chiefly valued for coloured foliage. It differs from amaranths selected for long hanging flower spikes. Moisture supports growth, but waterlogged soil can cause root rot; excessive feeding may dull leaf colour. Leaf-vegetable catalogue entries and named ornamental foliage selections both occur in the catalogue.
