Dreadlocks – Amaranthus caudatus

Amaranthus caudatus is an annual noted for long, drooping flower tassels. The epithet caudatus refers to this tailed appearance. The hanging inflorescences distinguish it from amaranths chiefly selected for coloured leaves or upright plumes. Moist soil suits it, while the named selection determines the particular ornamental entry.
